Ashes 2023: A new chapter of Test cricket’s biggest rivalry is to be written on June 16. The Ashes series will be played between Australia and England, who won the World Test Championship by defeating India.

In the last Ashes series, Australia defeated England very badly and won this trophy by 4-0. In such a situation, if the England team is fully prepared to conquer the world champion Australia, then same Australia will try its best to repeat the victory of the previous Ashes.

Australia eased to victory by 209 runs before lunch on the final day at a packed-out Oval. Cummins said they would wait to celebrate this victory before turning the attention entirely to the Ashes, which begins at Edgbaston on Friday.

Ashes 2023 Fixtures

The series will begin in Edgbaston, the preferred venue of the England players despite the so-called home “fortress” being penetrated by an Australian victory in 2019. As usual, there will be two Test matches in London at Lord’s and the Ova on 28 July and 27 July. The other two Tests are slated at Headingley and Old Trafford, following the pattern from four years ago. Trent Bridge fails once more.

  • First Test, Edgbaston, Birmingham June 16-20
  • Second Test, Lord’s, London June 28-July 2
  • Third Test, Headingley, Leeds July 6-10
  • Fourth Test, Old Trafford, Manchester July 19-23
  • Fifth Test, The Oval, London, July 27-31

Ashes 2023 First Test Pitch Report

The pitch at Edgbaston is a neutral surface that assists batsmen and bowlers alike. Fast bowlers get some movement from the wicket during the early stages of the match, while the pitch becomes easier to bat on as the match progresses. So there is always a good fight between bat and ball.

If we look at the statistics, then the team bowling first on this ground has more chance of winning. So it is expected that after winning the toss, the captain will decide to bowl first.

Ashes 2023 First Test Weather Forcast

There is only 20% of rain in the opening match of the Ashes. There will be slight changes but the temperature will be around 27 degrees. Apart from this, the humidity will be 45% while the wind speed is expected to be 8kmph.

Ashes 2023 First Test match prediction

Talking about the first Test match of the Ashes, Australia, who recently won the World Test Championship by defeating India, seems to have the upper hand. Australia had won 4-0 in the last series. At the same time, the England team was successful in winning the Ashes at home for the last time in the year 2015. But looking at the great Test form of England recently, it can be said that this series is going to be much more exciting.
